VAS “Latvijas gaisa satiksme” organised sketch tender “Riga airport air traffic control tower future visualisation” winner is architect bureau "Arhis Arhitekti", engaging one of largest architect, engineer and interior design specialists around the world- "Leo A Daly" as their partners.

Bureau "Arhis Arhitekti" also received main prize money- 35 000 euro- as the official winner for tender.

Second place and 20 000 euro prize money received combined Latvian and Lithuanian team "NRJA/CPMG", and 10 000 prize money was granted to authors of functionally most effective solution SIA "Avotiņš, Vincents un partneri".

Also three motivation prize money of 5 000 euro were granted- for architecturally most unique solution of control tower combined France team "1PAX, Sempervirens", "EGIS" were awarded.

For the idea to use wooden structures for control tower prize went to mixed Latvian French team "AREP-SETEC-REM PRO", and for most rational functional-technical solution- "Būvdizains un ADPI" from Latvia and France.

Development of Design is planed in 2018, but the start of construction work execution- in 2019. LGS estimates, that construction of control tower will cost 20 million euro.

Expansion and evolution of Riga international airport, increased amount of flights, inability to install advanced technologies in the existing tower are main motivators for reconstruction project.
